Vow of Obedience

his painting explores the vow of obedience made at Religious Profession. It expresses total and unconditional self-offering to God, in response to grace. The chalice is filled with living water. The grain of wheat has consented to die, and the new seed is springing up at the foot of the cross. “Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit” (John 12.24)
