Vow of Poverty

This painting explores the vow of poverty made at Religious Profession. It expresses the self-offering and freedom of following Christ who “emptied himself” (Philippians 2.7). The empty bowl is open to receiving whatever God gives. The ‘little white flower’  at the foot of the cross represents the simplcity of those who, like St Therese of the Child Jesus, are willing to become little.
