Rag Rugs and Wall Hangings

Rag rug making is a traditional cottage craft that has experienced an amazing revival in modern times. Formerly practised as a way of enlivening and refurbishing the homes of the poor by “recycling” used materials, it developed into an art form of its own through which the imaginations and skills of simple villagers found expression. Today this traditional handcraft has rediscovered a popularity unknown to it since the late nineteenth century. A Sister at Quidenham Carmel has been producing rugs with enthusiasm and skill for a number of years and is pleased to offer her work for sale to interested customers. Enliven the interior of your home with one of these decorative and colourful artefacts! If you think that they are too good to put on the floor, why not use them as a wall hanging?
