Living Carmel, living hope, a reflection
Sr Penelope’s reflection on hope was recently published on the British Province of Carmelites’ website. In her article she shares how life in Carmel helped her discover the deeper meaning of hope and how much more substance there is to it than mere optimism.
“Hope is that deep and solid virtue based firmly in God… It can’t go away; it can’t be extinguished; it is of God and enables my life in Christ. It is a far cry from a mere “whistling in the dark” which is how many think of hope,” she writes.
Her piece is part a series of weekly reflections to mark the Jubilee year of Hope, written by Carmelites and shared by the British Province of Carmelites on their website.
