Art, including music and playing instruments, is also a big part of our life. We enjoy craft work, such as knitting toys and clothes, embroidery, drawing, candle painting and more!
Some of us enjoy artistic expression as a recreational activity - and sometimes as we develop a skill we realise that it can also enrich community life or the liturgy. For example, sisters who play instruments are able to delight the community during 'concert' events that we organise for special occasions, and they provide a wonderful accompaniment to our singing in Choir.
Embroidery
The hand-embroidered items of Sister Teresa Keswick, often featuring detailed studies of natural life, have given immense delight and pleasure to the customers who have commissioned them. She has been sewing fluently since the age of six and, in recent years, has done embroidery for both private customers and churches. Her work includes altar frontals for St Andrew's church, Little Barningham (Norfolk); the chapel at Hatfield House (Hertfordshire); St Andrew's church, Much Hadham (Hertfordshire); and the Roman Catholic church in Wymondham (Norfolk). She has also created decorative work such as wall hangings, cushion covers and bedspreads.
Here is a gallery showcasing examples of her embroidery. She is willing to work on commission for private customers. Please use the enquiry form to find out more about prices and terms, which are set according to the size and complexity of the work required and are negotiated before it is begun.

Music
According to the gifts and talents of our members we try to enhance the daily celebrations of the liturgy with music and song, making our worship a thing of beauty for the Lord. Our community has been blessed with gifted musicians who have composed some of our music.
At present we have sisters able to play the piano, organ, oboe, flute, and guitar. Much of our liturgy is sung by the sisters with the organ providing accompaniment and support.
The organ and other instruments are also used regularly for voluntaries, particularly on Sundays and festivals. The organ has also been the feature of a number of musical recitals on several occasions and makes an important contribution to occasions of particular solemnity, such as Religious Professions, anniversaries and funerals.
Crafts
Some sisters love knitting - and are quite good at it! From knitting clothes like cardigans to making toys, it is a very popular recreational activity and another way to express one's creative streak. The items created make for great gifts for family and friends and can also be given to charity. Other crafts enjoyed by the sisters have included drawing, painting, icon-writing, decorating candles, flower-arranging, and putting on puppet shows.
