Our Accommodation

It is our hope that those who come to visit or stay with us will be able to return refreshed and renewed to their daily lives.

Accommodation in our guest hermitages is available for those who wish to spend a time of private retreat here, to share in the liturgy and prayer, or who would like to know more about our Carmelite calling. The hermitages can become heavily booked at certain times of the year so we recommend that you apply in good time if you possibly can.

FAQs

Charges

We have no fixed charge but rely on your generosity with regard to donations. We aim to provide something comparable to the usual facilities for 'bed and breakfast'; we would therefore recommend £50 - £55 per night as a guide for those who can afford it.

How to get here

The nearest train stations are at Diss (10 miles), Thetford (14 miles) and Attleborough (6 miles). By road, set your satnav to NR16 2PH.

General Information

We ask that our guests be self-catering. If this should be too difficult for you, we can provide you with a vegetarian lunch from the monastery kitchen on a daily basis. We can't, however, provide you with supper. For your convenience we always supply: bread, butter, milk, cheese, eggs and fruit.

Should you feel the need for anything else please ask the guest sister, who should be able to help.

Our guest accommodation is outside the enclosure. The monastery precincts are not open to the public. But all guests are very welcome to attend daily Mass and the Divine Office either in the main body of the church or from the small visitors' chapel which faces the nuns' Choir.

We do not conduct directed retreats. However, if you wish to talk privately to a sister during your stay, this can be arranged.

We regret that no pets are allowed. We also respectfully ask that our visitors refrain from smoking indoors.
