Sr Kay’s knitted hearts are ready!

Knitting hearts to help create a warmer, hospice-like atmosphere for the dying in hospital

Sr Kay has been knitting hearts for the Palliative Care Team at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital and here they are, ready to be donated.

The hearts are made in pairs so that one of the hearts accompanies the end-of-life patient while the family keeps the other heart. These donated knitted hearts are added to a box provided by the hospital that includes loaned items such as battery-operated candles, fairy lights, diffusers and tea and coffee-making facilities. The aim is to try and enhance the care provided to patients and their loved ones by creating the ambiance of a hospice room. People are also welcome to donate knitted or quilted blankets.
