The ‘Therese’ wind chimes are back
With the start of spring and the sunny weather we thought it was a good time to get the wind chimes out of the box and back hanging on the tree. These wind chimes have a special significance as they were given to us by the children of St Mark’s Catholic Primary school in Ipswich. They used to come once a year to celebrate Mass with us, followed by a picnic on the lawn just outside the monastery, after which some of the sisters would meet them to tell them about our life and to answer their questions.
The year the children gave us these wind chimes they had been doing a project about St Therese of Lisieux. They engraved a quote from her on one side and another by St Teresa of Avila. This year also marks the 100th anniversary of the canonization of Saint Therese (on 17th May).
“Just as the sun shines on all the trees and flowers as if each were the only one on earth, so does God care for all souls in a special manner.” ~ St Therese of Lisieux
“The tree that is beside the running water is fresher and gives more fruit.” ~ St Teresa of Avila
