Kitty quartet is ready!
Sr Kay’s latest knitted creations made their official appearance earlier this week – a quartet of colourful kitties that she made for a charity.
Sr Kay started knitting when she was only 3 years old as a clever trick to stop her from pulling the stitches off her mother’s own needles!
“My Mum was fed up with me pulling her stitches off the needles and thought that if I learnt to knit it might cure me,” she explains. “I’m not sure if it did, but I certainly took to knitting. A great step forward happened on my 6th birthday, when Mum taught me how to do purl stitch and said that all knitting was basically a knit or a purl.”
Another recent addition included the knitting of little badgers, deer and hares.
They first made their appearance over Easter as windowsill decorations.
“I had never knitted toys until a few years ago when a friend gave me a pattern and yarn for a Kitty. I was hesitant, but thought I’d better have a go. It turned out well, so I branched out into making kitties and other toys for charity, especially for Ukraine.”
