Advent altar frontal (detail)

This detail from an Advent altar frontal shows the ship of faith with a cross saltire on its sail, sailing beneath a starry sky. It was commissioned for Saint Andrew’s church in Much Haddam. The fine rendering of the waves of the sea is made up of many closely stitched individual threads.
