Spring is in the air
Crocuses, daffodils and more are beginning to brighten up the garden…
Days are getting longer and although it is chilly outside the sun is shining a little more often these days. It is amazing how sunshine can bring the whole garden to life. Early spring flowers are beginning to emerge from their winter slumber. Snowdrops were the first ones to come up, of course, and there are still dazzling carpets of them around the garden as can be seen in the video taken earlier to share a glimpse of how everything is slowly being transformed from a winter landscape to springtime.
Clumps of crocuses, mostly purple (but a few white ones have been spotted!), have appeared to the obvious delight of bees and bumblebees and other nectar and pollen-loving insects (see what appears to be a buff-tailed bumblebee queen on a flower in one of the photos below!). Dwarf irises and daffodils are coming up – including the Narcissus ‘tête-à-tête’ and other miniature types – while blossom flowers are beginning to appear on some trees…
“The flowers are springing up, the season of singing birds has come, and the cooing of turtledoves fills the air.” ~ song of songs 2:12
